Michael Puzo Quoted in Hingham Anchor “This Is Home” Series
Hemenway Trust Company managing director Michael J. Puzo was interviewed by the Hingham Anchor for the inaugural issue of the Anchor’s “This Is Home” series. The article focused on Hingham’s Town Meeting form of government. As Town Moderator, Michael shared his perspective on the privilege and responsibility of participating in Town Meeting saying,
“Playing your part as a voter – and as a local legislator — in charting Hingham’s future is both a privilege and a responsibility and should not be taken for granted. In fact, as we look forward to April 28, 2025, let us remain mindful that we will begin our work some 250 years after our forebears began their quest for independence in April of 1775. That we have the freedom to govern ourselves, and that we undertake to do so, lies at the heart of what makes Hingham the engaged and enduring community that it is, a community that we are proud to call home.”
As moderator, Michael presides over Hingham’s open town meeting, the town’s legislative body, where all Hingham citizens who take part do so with voice and vote. The moderator is also responsible for appointing citizens to a host of town boards and committees, including the Advisory Committee, Personnel Board, and Community Preservation Committee.
Also active in Hingham town service are Kevin Ellis, chair of the Hingham Planning Board, and Joseph Bierwirth, former chair of the Advisory Committee.
